Glasgow Science Centre
One of Scotland's must-see visitor attractions - presenting concepts of science and technology in unique and inspiring ways.
What are the main attractions?
There are many elements that make Glasgow Science Centre one of Scotland's must-see visitor attractions.
The Centre is home to hundreds of interactive exhibits in the Science Mall, Scotland's biggest - screen IMAX cinema, a Science Show Theatre, a great Cafe and an intriguing Shop.
There are 3 floors to the Science Mall:
Floor 1:
There are loads of hands-on exhibits to discover on Floor 1 of the Science Mall. Test your reactions with our wiggly wire, see the effects of air pressure and things might not be as they first appear in our illusions section.
Get up close and personal with our creepy crawlies on your visit to Floor 1- meet our Madagascan Hissing Cockroaches, Giant African Land Snails and our very talented musical fish.
Floor 2
Floor 2 is crammed with more hands-on science exhibits plus our stage area. Morph your features with some celebrities or animals and see some hilarious results on screen, create a 3D model of your face and see what you look like as a thermal image.
New for 2011 is our exciting "Be Creative" area, with a host of new intereactive exhibits such as the shake-it tables, which simulate earthquakes, the theramin and the "Build-it", "Test-it" and "Deconstruct-it" zones.
Floor 3
Home to two exciting new additions- MindWorks and Alice in Wonderland!
Magic meets science in the 'MindWorks' zone where you will find mind-benders of all sorts like the Vortex tunnel, Ames Room and the Phantom Hand! Take a walk through the Vortex Tunnel and experience what affects your balance - guaranteed to get you in a spin. Visit the Ames Room and instantly transform into a towering giant or little person. This optical illusion, which has been used in films like the Lord of The Rings Trilogy, is created through a trick of perspective in a distorted room. The Phantom Hand is a very striking illusion as you become convinced that you can feel a rubber hand being touched just as if it were your own.
