House for an Art Lover

Designed by the famous Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, House for an Art Lover provides an excellent resource for visitors as a cultural attraction and tourist destination, whilst also being one of the city's finest wedding and events venues. The House is also home to the popular Art Lovers Cafe and Art Lovers Shop.

This stunning venue is the place to meet, eat, greet and shop and take in the wonder of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's iconic designs that are featured throughout the house.

The Mackintosh Suite

The exterior of the House for an Art Lover has been realised, in materials, craftsmanship and dimensions, as closely as possible to the Mackintosh designs of 1901.  Take a stroll around the House and into the nearby walled garden.  You will see that the House sits comfortably in its parkland surroundings, almost as if Mackintosh himself had selected the setting.

Inside the House, Mackintosh designed the entire layout of rooms but he and his wife provided detailed interior designs for only the double height Entrance Hall, the Dining Room, Oval Room and Music Room*.  This group of rooms have been realised in breathtaking detail together with the Main Staircase and Gallery and is referred to as 'The Mackintosh Suite', to which visitors are welcome at most times.

The Art Lovers Shop:

A well kept secret, The Art Lovers Shop offers a wonderful selection of fun and quirky products, must have presents and a wide selection of Mackintosh inspired gifts and contemporary jewellery.  Stockists of brands such as Inch Blue and Jelly Cat, The Art Lovers Shop is the perfect destination to buy that unique present.

Gift Vouchers

You can also purchase gift vouchers which can be redeemed on any products within the Art Lovers Shop. Vouchers are available from £10 upwards and can be purchased in the shop, by calling 0141 353 4770 or online.

Art Lovers Cafe

In the Art Lovers Café, they have a passion for good food and friendly service.

Open daily from 10am to 5pm with lunch served between 12pm and 4pm, The Art Lovers Café is the perfect location to 'do lunch'.

There is a great team of Chefs sourcing ingredients from local suppliers, and a beautiful terrace for al fresco dining (weather permitting!)
