The newest
branch of Glasgow pizza and pasta institution, Paperinos took over
the grand building of 78 St Vincent Street in 2009.
The original brass banisters, marble staircase and mezzanine all carry off the historical sophistication of the place, even if the numerous American-diner-style booths and neon-lit glass dividers which fit so well in the other two restaurants don't quite match so well here.
The extensive menu is identical in all three outlets. from fantastic bowls of al dente pasta or enormous, well-made pizzas to a handful of meat and fish dishes, such as the black tagliatelle with a spectacular medley of fresh shellfish. The pappardelle alla Paperino consists of fat ribbons of pasta tossed in a Napoli sauce with roasted garlic and chilli, thinly sliced pancetta and tangy slices of peppers. The pre-theatre and lunch menus change regularly and feature an alternative selection of freshly created seasonal dishes and traditional Italian fare.
